Just installed Google Mobile App:-). It has the voice recognition function so I guess this is the version people are talking about...?

NOTE: It says "Voice Search only works in English and works best for North American English accents.

Wow. That's interesting. I don't see it anywhere on my app (from the Japan iTunes Store). Where did you download it from Kaori?
I downloaded it from App Store.
Heh. Of course. What LINK did you use? There may be TWO versions of the app on the store.
Link? I just typed "Google Mobile App" and found it. When I installed it this morning, the version info was not updated, but now I see it updated.
I just downloaded it too from the USA store. It didn't show up as an update, so I just re-downloaded it and it works with voice.

I was excited about it but I realized that my excitement was based upon the desire to say "movie theatre" and have the nearest movie theatre displayed. I guess I really want the voice feature to be in the map application...
Actually, after trying again, the "ローカル" button works this time. It didn't work the first time.

Yay! If I look up movie theatre, then I can hit the local link, then a theatre name, then a link to the map, them I can hit the See in Google Map link.

It's four extra steps, but at least it's what I wanted. Yay!
Ah. I updated yesterday but they updated again last night (including the Japanese iTunes Store). Free app. No jailbreak needed. Integrated well with other native iPhone Google apps (like Earth). Killer voice search feature. A must have. :-)
Not a bad app just that I really have to imitate a north american accent to get higher accuracy. Still it's a great thing to have.
